The new Premier League season is just days away with the action kicking off this weekend. We are expecting to see a flurry of transfer deals this week as clubs look to add to and trim their respective squads ahead of kick off.

Though, we do still have more than two weeks to go in the window, and so deals will continue to happen up until the end of the month. In the meantime, we have rounded up all the latest transfer news from ‘insider’ Fabrizio Romano.

Gallagher in the air

Chelsea remain in talks over the sale of Conor Gallagher, with Atletico Madrid yet to wrap up a deal for the midfielder. And there is now an interesting twist involving a possible return to Chelsea for Atletico man Joao Felix.

“EXCLUSIVE: Chelsea request Conor Gallagher to return to London on Tuesday, set to book flight,” Romano tweeted. “Chelsea see all deals as separate, João Félix too — offered to #CFC on Sunday. Door remains OPEN for Gallagher to join Atléti after medical done, up to all parties involved.”

Romano added: “Conor Gallagher to Atlético has not collapsed as of tonight; but Chelsea see all deals (so also João Félix) as separate, independent. Atlético can get Gallagher deal signed as docs are read…but if they don’t, Chelsea request Conor back to London with flight booked.”

Romano also said: “Atlético Madrid and Samu Omorodion’s camp are already working on different solutions after Chelsea deal collapsed. Chelsea and Atléti keep working on João Félix deal, no longer on Samu. Conor Gallagher, still waiting.”

Merino talks

Arsenal are still working on a deal to sign Real Sociedad star Mikel Merino, attempting to agree a fee with the Spanish club. Romano told CaughtOffside: “I think the point is if the two clubs can reach an agreement on the payment terms and deal structure, because even the value of the deal is already clear, it’s going to be slightly above €25m

“So this is what Arsenal will pay for Merino – but the problem for Real Sociedad is that Merino is not extending his contract, at least as of today. His desire is to go to Arsenal, he’s only waiting for Arsenal, and so I don’t think Zubimendi future will impact Merino. This is the feeling also at Real Sociedad they have, because they would face the risk to lose the player on a free … and that would be a big problem for a club like Real Sociedad.”

Nketiah shortlisted

Bournemouth could turn to Arsenal fringe star Eddie Nketiah this summer with Dominic Solanke having left for Tottenham. “Bournemouth have added Eddie Nketiah to their list of options to replace Dom Solanke,” Romano tweeted.

“Initial talks took place after bid rejected today by FC Porto for Evanilson. OM deal for Nketiah, completely off after they signed Wahi.”

The best of the rest

Looking at the other London clubs, Brentford may end up missing out on Jens Cajuste due to issues with paperwork. Romano said: “EXCL: Jens Cajuste deal on the verge of collapsing as Brentford and Napoli had issues after exchanging paperworks. Cajuste had medical in London today but he could return to Napoli on Tuesday as deal is currently off.”

West Ham have had more joy in signing Aaron Wan-Bissake from Manchester United, though, with Romano saying: “Aaron Wan-Bissaka has signed his new West Ham contract right now with Tim Steidten! Deal sealed.”

Last but not least, Crystal Palace are battling to keep hold of Marc Guehi amid talks with Newcastle United over a big money deal. Romano wrote: “Newcastle are increasingly confident to get Marc Guehi deal done with their new proposal sent to Crystal Palace. Negotiations underway, still in talks.”
