Arsenal and West Ham are sweating on the fitness of key players ahead of their Premier League game on Boxing day.

The Hammers are looking to kick start their Premier League campaign after a slow start before the World Cup break that has them on 16th on the league table. Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta admitted that Reiss Nelson had a little issue during their winter pre-season and was a doubt for the game against West Ham.

There are also doubts over the fitness of Ukrainian utility player Oleksandr Zinchenko and Emile Smith Rowe while forward Gabriel Jesus is still recovering from the knee injury he suffered while with Brazil at the World Cup.

There is also uncertainty surrounding the fitness of Japanese defender Takehiro Tomiyasu even though the Gunners are still huge favourites to get all points on Boxing Day fixtures.

Mikel Arteta has energised the team and they have been peerless with just the defeat to Manchester United early on in the campaign the only time they have failed to pick up a point from a Premier League game.

David Moyes looking to end bad form away

West Ham manager David Moyes is yet to win a Premier League game away at Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool but he can not afford to lose this game on Boxing day as he is under pressure following an underwhelming start to the season.

Since first taking over Everton in 2002 Moyes has faced Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester United and has lost 49 times and drawn the rest without ever tasting a win. This also includes his time as manager of Manchester United, Sunderland and his two stints as West Ham manager.
