Four to be axed

Arsenal are still looking to sell as many as four players this summer, according to Football Insider, with Jakub Kiwior, Kieran Tierney, Eddie Nketiah and Emile Smith Rowe all said to be on the chop block.

The Gunners need to raise money if they want to spend significantly this summer, with big spending last summer making things difficult with PSR. As part of that, a number of fringe stars must be offloaded, and those four are said to be the most likely to leave after Nuno Tavares’ Serie A switch. The Gunners can expect to bring in sizable fees for Nketiah and Smith Rowe, in particular.

Merino efforts

Arsenal are said to be stepping up their efforts to land Real Sociedad star Mikel Merino now that Euro 2024 has come to an end. That’s according to GiveMeSport, who say the Gunners are now bidding to wrap up a deal for the European champion.

Merino scored a crucial goal for La Roja to defeat Germany in the quarter-finals and came off the bench in the final against England. The Gunners are only said to be willing to pay around £20million to complete a deal, but Merino only has one year remaining on his contracting, putting La Real in a difficult position when it comes to negotiations.

Lokonga on Arsenal exit

Albert Sambi-Lokonga has completed his loan move to Sevilla, with the Spanish club also holding an option to buy. Upon his arrival in Andalucia, Lokonga said: “I have always thought about playing for Sevilla and today is the day,” Lokonga said at his unveiling press conference on Monday.

“Thank you all for the opportunity I have to play for Sevilla. I hope to stay here for many years, because I have a lot to do and a lot to prove for the club.” He added: “I had some conversations with Victor. We had the opportunity to talk a long time ago and today it finally came true.

“For me the most convincing thing is the opportunity to return to Europe and win again. I want to be part of the team, be part of the history of the club and participate in everything I can. I knew this day would come. Now I have more experience and I am a better player and a better person to make the most of the opportunity. Everyone knows that Sevilla has a great history and that is why I am here. I hope to win something with Sevilla.”
