Arsenal are said to have considered a move for now former Ajax defender Lisandro Martinez this summer.

According to The Athletic, the Gunners eyed the defender but they were concerned about the player’s height.

Runarsson departs

Arsenal have continued the trimming of their squad as the deadline approaches.

Goalkeeper Alex Runarsson has joined Alanyaspor on a loan deal until the end of the season.

Runarsson would have been Arsenal’s number three goalkeeper, at best, this season, with Matt Turner signed to play back-up to Aaron Ramsdale.

Runarsson now heads to Turkey for the remainder of the campaign.
