More deals eyed

After securing winger Gabriel Martinelli to a new bumper deal until the summer of 2027, Arsenal are now turning their attention on Granit Xhaka, as well Bukayo Saka and William Saliba. That’s according to reporter Daniel Cutts on Twitter, who suggests the club wants his future ‘sorted’.

The Switzerland international has had an impressive season and has played a key role behind the Gunners’ rise to the top of the Premier League. He has been on the books at the Emirates Stadium since joining in 2016 from Bundesliga outfit Borussia Mönchengladbach and has made 277 appearances in all competitions, chipping in with 16 goals.

Midfielder latest

Arsenal will have to face competition from La Liga giants Barcelona this summer if they rekindle their interest in Martin Zubimendi from Real Sociedad. The London club were linked with the 24-year-old this winter but opted for Jorginho from Chelsea instead.

Reporter Fabrizio Romano has told CaughtOffside: “One of the players they (Arsenal) considered is Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi – a very good player who’s also on the list of Barcelona, someone they’re following for the summer. Arsenal were considering a move for Zubimendi, he has a release clause, but on the player’s side he was happy to stay until at least the end of the season, so Arsenal decided not to proceed in talks.”
