Arsenal are now just days away from returning to competitive action after spending over a month without meaningful fixtures. The Gunners’ fine start to the season was halted by the World Cup, which drew to a close over the weekend. Mikel Arteta’s men can now look forward to getting back to it, and they return with a Premier League clash with West Ham United Boxing Day.

Arsenal will want to hit the ground running in that one as they begin to consider potential transfer targets for the January transfer window. With that in mind, we have rounded up all the latest transfer news and rumours surrounding the Emirates Stadium.

Martinelli offer

More details have emerged over Arsenal’s reported contract talks with Gabriel Martinelli. The winger has enjoyed a superb start to the season so far, and the Gunners are said to want to hand him a new contract to avoid going into the final year of his deal.

Talks are set to restart with the World Cup now over and done with, and according to the Daily Mail, Arsenal will offer Martinelli a deal worth as much as £200,000-per-week. That’s a juicy deal for the 21-year-old, and surely one he will find difficult to reject.

Isco links

Arsenal are said to be interested in signing now former Sevilla misfit Isco Alarcon. Isco joined Sevilla on a free transfer from Real Madrid last summer, and he did not impress. Sevilla have already agreed to terminate the contract of the Spain international, and Fichajes claim Arsenal could be interested in snapping him up to add depth to their squad.

Isco is now available on a free transfer, though, he has never played outside Spain, so he might need some convincing to leave his home country. Then again, beggars can’t be choosers, and he is unlikely to have too many offers given his recent form.
