According to the Evening Standard, the Gunners lead the race to sign the Brazilian, hoping add-ons will take them to the figure desired by City.

It’s claimed the Gunners’ confidence is ‘growing’ over a £50million deal, with talks ongoing between the two Premier League rivals.

Vieira deal done

One deal that has now been done is the one involving Porto star Fabio Vieira.

The Portuguese club have announced that a £34million deal has been struck with the Gunners for the talented 22-year-old midfielder.

Vieria is seen as a creative talent, winning the player of the tournement at the last under-21s European Championship.

Tavares exit links

Arsenal could be set to offload defender Nuno Tavares after just one season.

The Portuguese full-back had a mixed first season with the Gunners, but it seems Arsenal are eyeing a quick profit.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Atalanta are in talks over a loan deal for Tavares, but Arsenal are attempting to insert a £34million option to buy in the deal.

It seems Arsenal don’t have long-term plans for Tavares, despite only taking him to the Emirates Stadium last summer.
