Latest news and rumours regarding Arsenal emerges as they prepare for cup action

Arsenal have a break from the Premier League this weekend as they prepare for the FA Cup. The Gunners face a tricky away trip to Manchester City.

Mikel Arteta’s side beat Manchester United 3-2 at the Emirates Stadium in their last game. Here is a look at some of the latest news and rumours regarding the club...

Midfielder latest

According to Jornal de Notícias (via Sport Witness), Arsenal are closing in on a ‘transfer’ to land Vitoria Guimaraes defensive midfielder Ibrahima Bamba. The 20-year-old is being tipped for a bright future in the game and could be seen as a useful long-term option for the London club.

The young Italian started his career at F.C. Pro Vercelli 1892 before landing a move to Vitoria back in 2020. He has since broken into their first-team over the past couple of seasons but is now reportedly poised to leave for a new chapter in England.

La Liga target update

The Times report that the Gunners have been told they will need to fork out a hefty fee if they were to sign target Martin Zubimendi from Real Sociedad. The La Liga will only consider letting him depart for the Premier League if his £53million release clause is met.

It appears Arsenal are in the market for reinforcements in the middle of the park and Zubimendi is someone who has impressed over in Spain. However, Bamba could be seen as a cheaper alternative and someone who they can develop down the line.
