Arsenal are closing in on their second summer signing, with Jakub Kiwior set to undergo a medical at London Colney later this week.

The Gunners have reacted to missing out on Ukrainian Mykhailo Mudryk, who was nabbed by Chelsea, by signing Leandro Trossard from Brighton - they have now almost secured Jakub Kiwior.

The defender is one of the rising stars of European football and was at the World Cup with Poland. Mikel Arteta has built Arsenal into a seemingly unstoppable force this season - with his side sitting top of the Premier League table, five points ahead of second placed Manchester City.

The 22-year-old Jakub Kiwior was in the stands as Arsenal dashed any doubts about their Premier League title credentials with a 3-2 win over Manchester United.

He sat with Edu and got a feel for the team, with the Gunners holding their nerve and benefiting from goals from Bukayo Saka and Eddie Nketiah - despite United threatening to land a blow to their Premier League hopes.

Arsenal have bought well since Mikel took over but, more importantly, he has also been able to change the thinking and the psychology of the squad.

They are unrecognisable as the club which lost out on Champions League football to Tottenham at the tale end of last season.

And ths season they beat Spurs home and away in the league for the first time since 2014.

The signing of Jakub Kiwior will give competition to a defensive line which has been the building block of their best start in the Premier League in the last 20 years.
