The Canning Town local rose to fame portraying ‘hard man’ roles over the years, in movies such as The Football Factory, The Real Football Factories, The Business, Vendetta and more.
Dyer also presented shows and sometimes put himself in compromising situations, in the much-loved Danny Dyer’s Deadliest Men.
The current landlord of the iconic Queen Vic has not yet got a confirmed departure date, with the news only emerging over the weekend.
Despite his imminent departure from Walford, EastEnders said that Mick Carter will still have “explosive drama”.
Dyer has reportedly accepted an “offer he couldn’t refuse” from Sky, which triggered his departure.
The 44-year-old first appeared as Mick Carter in the festive period of 2013, with daughter Nancy, wife Linda and son Jonny.
After a brief break from the show in 2017, Dyer has regularly featured and been at the heart of some of the soaps hardest hitting storylines, such as finding his birth mother, and dealing with his wife’s cheating scandal.
But now, after nine years, his time in the square is coming to an end.
It’s not yet known how they will enable Dyer to leave, but some people on social media suspect his wife in the show Linda, played by actress Kellie Bright, will have a huge part to play in the future of the Carter’s.
A statement explained: “Danny will be leaving EastEnders when his contract comes to an end later this year.
“However, we won’t be saying goodbye just yet as there’s still quite some time - and plenty of explosive drama for Mick - to come before he departs Walford.”
