Premier League winner, assistant manager, pundit- Where Tottenham side from 2015 semi-final vs Sheffield are

Tottenham will travel to Bramall Lane this evening hoping for a win that will take them one step closer to winning their first trophy since 2008.

The Lilywhites are in fine form going into the game having won back-to-back London derbies against West Ham and Chelsea.

They will also have their eyes on the weekend’s Premier League visit to the Molineux where they face Wolves-before a potential season defining game against AC Milan in the Champions League.

But the FA Cup provides another channel to win a trophy this season and Tottenham reached the League Cup final in 2015 when they last played Sheffield United in a cup game. That night, it was Christian Eriksen who scored late to break the hearts of Sheffield fans at Bramall Lane.

England striker Harry Kane had scored the only goal in the first leg at White Hart Lane before Eriksen put the Lilywhites 2-0 with a trademark free kick early on in the second leg.

But Sheffield United will stage a strong come-back with youngster Che Adams scoring twice in three minutes- bringing the prospect of extra time into focus.

Christian Eriksen then popped up to score late to set up a final between Mauricio Pochettino’s side and Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea.

Back then- Sheffield United were in League One, tonight they are second on the Championship table pushing for a return to the Premier League.

So ahead of tonight’s meeting, let’s refresh your memory on the Tottenham team that started that game back in 2015 and where they are now.

Michel Vorm

Now retired, Vorm alternates between Holland and England and every now and then does punditry. He worked briefly as a goalkeeper’s trainer at Spurs at some point.

Kyle Walker

Walker moved on to Manchester City in 2017 and has now won multiple Premier League titles at the Etihad with Pep Guardiola.

Eric Dier

Dier is still going strong at Spurs and has established himself at the centre of Antonio Conte’s three at the back system.

Jan Vertonghen

Once the undisputed number one centre back- Vertonghen has now gone back home and plays his football with Anderlecht in Belgium.

Ben Davies

The Welsh International is now one of the leaders of the current Spurs team. Recently- he’s been able to knock even the experienced Ivan Perisic out of the starting starting 11.

Benjamin Stambouli

Stambouli went on to have a really decent career at Shalke 04- but plays his football these days in Turkey with Adana Demirspor.

Ryan Mason

Unfortunately Mason had a bad head injury which cut short his playing career, but he’s now part of the coaching staff of Antonio Conte and looks to be doing a really good job. Both Antonio Conte and his assistant Cristian Stellini have spoken highly of him.

Erik Lamela

Lamela moved on to Sevilla two seasons ago but every now and then, he keep an eye out for the Lilywhites.

Mousa Dembele

The powerful midfielder has now retired from playing football and spends his time with his family in Belgium.

Christian Eriksen

Eriksen first moved on to Inter Milan, then suffered cardiac arrest on international duty before joining Brentford for the second half of last season. He impressed again during his time with the Bees and sealed a lucrative move to Manchester United last summer. He’s still got it.

Harry Kane

Kane has gone on to establish himself as one of the best strikers in the world, smashing records at both club and international level. He’s Tottenham’s record goal scorer and closing in on Wayne Rooney and Alan Shearer’s Premier League records.
