Manchester City returned to the top of the Premier League table as they recorded an 11th victory over Arsenal in the Premier League.

The Gunners put in a confident first half performance despite Kevin de Bruyne taking advantage of Takehiro Tomiyasu's backpass to score past Aaron Ramsdale in the 24th minute.

Bukayo Saka equalised from the penalty spot shortly before half time after Ederson’s foul on Eddie Nketiah.

City were the better side in the second half and took advantage of Gabriel's defensive error to take the lead through Jack Grealish, before Erling Haaland scored the winner after an excellent pass from De Bruyne.

Arsenal still have a game in hand over City but Pep Guardiola’s side and face Aston Villa next on Saturday lunchtime.

Here’s how we rated the Arsenal players:

Aaron Ramsdale - Couldn't do much about the goals with Grealish's strike taking a deflection off Tomiyasu. 5.

Takehiro Tomiyasu - The Japan international was drafted in to start and made a mistake to allow Kevin De Bruyne to open the scoring. Found himself run ragged for much of the game. 4.

Gabriel - Gave away a penalty which was ruled out for offside. Pulled away for the second goal. A night to forget for the Brazilian. 4.

William Saliba - Did well against Erling Haaland early on. Struggled in the second half and wasn’t helped by his defensive partner. 4.

Oleksandr Zinchenko - An excellent first half but looked isolated in the second period against his former team. 4.

Granit Xhaka - Presented with the opportunity to level things on 2-1 but took an extra touch. 5.

Jorginho - Had a good game overall and arguably Arsenal’s best performer on the night. 6.

Martin Odegaard - Lost all six of his ground duels in a forgettable night. 5.

Bukayo Saka - Incredible confidence and composure to slot home the penalty. 6.

Gabriel Martinelli - Another underwhelming performance but wasn’t helped by Zinchenko’s lack of width on the overlap. 5.

Eddie Nketiah - Missed a couple of chances in the game and should have scored. 5.

Fabio Vieira - Unable to produce anything of note after coming on. 5.

Leandro Trossard - Wasn’t on long enough to make an impact. 5.

Ben White - Wasn’t on long enough to make much of an impact for Arsenal. 5.
