Chelsea manager Graham Potter on the one thing that gave him hope despite Man City thrashing

Chelsea crashed out of the FA Cup after producing a very disappointing performance at Manchester City to lose 4-0.

The Blues put up a gallant fight in the league and only lost 1-0 on Thursday night, but the FA cup was no contest as Graham Potter’s players could barely lay a glove on Pep Guardiola’s side.

The defeat means Chelsea have crashed out of the League Cup and FA Cup, but they are still in the Champions League. They will have to lift their performances if they are to get past Dortmund and progress in the competition.

They are 10th on the league table and have won just two of their last eight games in all competitions.

The away fans were singing the name of former manager Thomas Tuchel as the pressure cranks up on Graham Potter to lift his desperately underperforming side.

He admits they were second best all day against City but saw an improved side in the second half which he said gives him hope to continue working.

He told reporters: “I am working with the players and am not getting any sense of people with a poor attitude.

“Everyone wants to try to do better.

“I think there is support in the dressing room, it’s just we’re going through a bad moment and sometimes when you have these moments you need somebody to blame, something to blame, and I understand where that question comes from. But at the same time, we have to stick together and keep working.”

Chelsea will now hope to put together a winning run with games againt Fulham and Crystal Palace.
