Cesc Fabregas has agreed with Jamie Carragher’s assessment of Arsenal’s summer business.

It has been a busy summer for the Gunners, who have spent big in a bid to turn their failed top four bid of last season into a successful one this term.

The likes of Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko have been snapped up, with Arsenal spending more than £100million to date.

Mikel Arteta has divided opinion among some, and especially after he was given a long-term contract before Arsenal went on to blow their top four bid last season.

But the club have thrown their weight behind the Spaniard, and he now has the best chance of succeeding after this summer’s investment in his squad.

Speaking to Football Daily recently, Sky Sports pundit Carragher praised the club’s business, saying: “I think the signings Arsenal have got are really good. Zinchenko coming in, Tierney is always injury-prone, so you have to bring someone in there.

“I think Jesus is a great signing. Look what Arsenal have done in pre-season, I know it’s pre-season games, but to beat Chelsea by that scoreline was pretty impressive.”

And former Gunner Fabregas has now weighed in along the same lines, telling Sky Sports: “I think Mikel is doing a fantastic job. I think Edu is doing a fantastic job.

“Not only for what they are doing, we talk about football people. Edu is a football man and he has had the patience and he knows what it takes to build a project. You cannot do it in one day.

“Sometimes the market doesn’t allow you to get the right player, sometimes you are too young to compete, as it happened at Arsenal for one or two years.

“They are mature now, the younger players are not as young anymore. I see a different phase. They signed very well and they strengthened in certain areas where they were struggling. I am really looking forward to the season, it’s exciting.”
