Two boys were left hanging in midair after the bungee cord on a slingshot ride at Winter Wonderland broke, sending them careening into a support beam.

The video posted below, which was first shared on TikTok, shows the boys sitting in the capsule before it’s about to take off but goes horribly wrong as soon as they get liftoff.

Onlookers appear shocked as the teenagers, aged 14 and 15, veer off to the right rather than directly vertical as the bungee cord on the left hand side appears to fail.

A Met Police spokesperson has said of the incident: “It was reported that two teenage boys had been in a fairground ride when one of the bungee cords attached to the cage had snapped.

“The cage was left suspended in the air.”

The two teenagers were uninjured in the incident, but the malfunction has been reported to the Health and Safety Executive.

The fire brigade were also called after the ride appeared to malfunction, but the two boys had been freed and left by the time the service arrived at the scene.
