Hackney Half Marathon 2023: Travel update as TfL announces changes to London Overground

The Hackney Half Marathon will see runners start in Hackney Marshes, taking them through well-known spots such as Haggerston Park and London Fields.

The London Overground will be operation on an amended timetable today (May 21) as runners and supporters head out for the Hackney Half Marathon.

Transport for London (TfL) said there will be changes to the Stratford to Clapham Junction/Richmond line, with extra trains running between Camden Road and Stratford in both directions.

Among the amendments this morning due to the half marathon are the 9.15am Gospel Oak to Clapham Junction train, which will start at Shepherds Bush, and the 9.38am Stratford to Clapham Junction train, which will begin at Willesden Junction.

Unrelated to the half marathon, the London Overground will also be running no service between South Tottenham and Barking Riverside until 9.45pm.

TfL is advising passengers to use Victoria line connections between Seven Sisters, Blackhorse Road and Walthamstow Central, and bus services between Barking and Barking Riverside.

Runners taking part in the half marathon will start in Hackney Marshes, following a route through Hackney which takes them down Mare Street and through Broadway Market.

The route also takes participants through parks such as Haggerston and Downs Park, before finally ending up back in Hackney Marshes.
