London Marathon 2022: Man, 36, dies three miles from finish line

A 36-year-old man has died after collapsing towards the end of the London Marathon on Sunday, October 2, race organisers have confirmed.
The man, from the south east of England, was said to come into difficulty between miles 23 and 2.

Hide AdDespite receiving medical attention immediately after collapsing, he later died in hospital.
An ambulance was at the scene within three minutes, organisers said.
A statement from TCS London Marathon said: “With deep sadness, we confirm the death of a participant in the 2022 TCS London Marathon.
Everyone involved in the organisation of the London Marathon would like to express sincere condolences to his family and friends.

Hide Ad“The family has requested privacy and no further details will be released in accordance with their wishes.”
They added: “The cause of death will be established later through medical examination.”
More than 40,000 runners tackled 26.2-mile route through the capital.
It’s typically held in April and this year’s event was the 42nd London Marathon.
