With warmer days and lighter nights upon us, take advantage of making plans this weekend with these five things to do in London.

From a BMX event with local hero Kye Whyte to an open air cinema at a summer festival, here are five events happening this weekend, June 17-19 that we think you should check out.

Taste of London festival

The Regent’s Park Tickets from £24pp to £175pp

From today (Wednesday, June 15) to Sunday, June 1, The Regent’s Park will be hosting the Taste of London festival.

This festival is the largest celebration of food and drink in the capital.

At the festival you can try a dish from the popular Big Mamma Italian group, a vegan burger from Neat Burger (£7), deep fried oreos from Hot Box (£6), a trio of dumplings from Dumplings’ Legend (£7), half a lobster with fries from Burger & Lobster (£17), and much much more.

And of course there will be alcohol - with wine tasting, whiskey vending machines and classic cocktails. You can cool off with an Aperol spritz from Beetlejuice cocktails or treat yourself to a tipple at the Pimms and Prosecco bar.

Throughout the five days, there are also a range of chef demonstrations, cookery classes and cocktail masterclasses. You can see the full schedule here.

Tickets for basic entry to the festival are £24. However, there are a range of more expensive ticket options which include two dishes, fast track entry, a VIP lounge and more. You can book your tickets here.

RSPCA One Fun Day

On Saturday, June 18, more than 40 events are taking place across the UK to celebrate One Fun Day and to raise money for animal charity RSPCA.

  • At the RSPCA shop on High Road in East Finchley (N2 9AS) there will be a shop event with tombola, cakes, hot and cold drinks, instore offers and kids crafts.
  • At Pets at Home on Plough Lane in Wimbledon (SW17 0BW) there will be doggy cuddles, biscuits, stickers and a chance to meet the lovely volunteers.
  • At the RSPCA shop on Westow Street in Crystal Palace (SE19 3AH) there will be tombolas, cakes and a range of activities and games for the children.
  • At the RSPCA shop on Lower Addiscombe Road in Croydon (CR0 6RD) there will also be ombolas, cakes and a range of activities and games for the children.
  • At CroyWall on Whitestone Way in Croydon (CR0 4WN) there will be a climbing competition with prizes and rosettes to win. This event is dog-friendly.

Please note: All events will take place between 10am and 4pm, with the exception of the CroyWall climbing event which is between 12pm and 7pm.

BMX national series

Burgess Park, Albany Rd, SE5 0AL Free entry

Peckham is hosting the BMX national series round 7 on Saturday, June 18 and Sunday, June 19.

At the event, guests can see the likes of Olympic silver medallist Kye Whyte and previous under-16 boys’ world champion Quillian Isidore.

The Burgess Park BMX track helped train Whyte, and at one point 70% of the Olympic BMX squad hailed from Peckham.

Marylebone Summer Festival

The annual summer event hosted in the chic residential area of Marylebone is returning this weekend.

On Saturday, June 18 you can watch Bohemian Rhapsody at the open air cinema on Paddington Street Gardens. The film starts at 8.30pm and ticket prices start at £15pp.

On Sunday, June 19 you can enjoy a street party on Marylebone High Street and a dog show in St Marylebone Parish Church Gardens between 11am and 5.30pm.

Over the weekend there will also be a range of live music performances, alfresco bars, and family friendly activities.

Shops, restaurants and other local businesses will have their own events going on too, including discounts, special menus and extended opening hours.

Enfield Pride

Enfield Library Green Free to attend

This year will see the LGBTQ+ community celebrate their first ever Pride event in Enfield, brought to you by Dugdale arts centre.

The event will take place on Saturday, June 18 and Sunday, June 19 at Enfield Town’s Library Green.

Between the hours of 12pm and 6pm, visitors can enjoy dancing, fire acts and aerial hoops.

There will be a small stage hosted by Benjy Potter and a DJ Throughout, as well as stalls selling food, drinks and promoting LGBTQ+ charities.

There are a few stars performing at the event including RuPaul Drag Queens Cheryl Hole, Sum Ting Wong, Vanity Milan; X Factor winner Joe McElderry; and some of the UK’s best tribute acts including Cher and Lady Gaga.
