Croydon fire: Woman dies following blaze in first floor flat

A woman has died following a flat fire in south London.

Firefighters were called to a blaze in a flat in South Norwood, Croydon, on Friday, December 23.

A woman was rescued from the blaze by firefighters and removed from the scene by London Ambulance Service crews. She later died in hospital.

Part of a first floor flat was damaged by the fire.

A London Fire Brigade (LFB) spokesperson said: “The brigade was called at 10.39pm and the incident was over by 12.20am.

“Four fire engines from Woodside, Croydon and Norbury fire stations attended the scene.”

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
