Tower Hamlets: Video footage released as sexual assault investigated

Residents were alerted to the female victim after hearing her screams coming from a nearby building.

Footage has been released of a man police want to speak to in connection with a sexual assault in Tower Hamlets.

The victim was in the Canary Wharf area at around 7.40pm on February 15 when she was followed by an unknown male, who continued after her into a building where she was sexually assaulted.

According to the police, the male only made off after residents hearing her screams came to her aid.

Det Ch Insp Angela Thompson said: “A thorough investigation into this incident is ongoing, however attempts to identify a man seen on CCTV footage around the time of the incident have not yet been successful.

“As such, I am releasing video footage today and I ask members of the public, in particular those who live or work in the E14 area, to watch carefully to see if they recognise the man shown. If you know who he is, please make contact and share his name with us.”
