Trei Daley: Second man charged with Hackney Wick murder

Mawien Mawien, 38, of Portland Close, Romford, has been charged with murder and is due to appear at Highbury Magistrates Court today.

He has also been charged with wounding another man and for possession of a bladed article.

Police were called at around 4.30am on Saturday February 11 after two people arrived at an east London hospital with stab wounds.

Mr Daley, of Bromley, south London, died despite the efforts of medics.

A post-mortem examination held on Tuesday February 14 found the cause of death to have been a stab wound to the chest.

The second man, aged 24, was discharged from hospital later that same day.

Christopher Appiah-Blay, 35, of Wick Road, Hackney, was charged on February 14 with murder and possession of an offensive weapon.

He appeared at Willesden Magistrates’ Court on the same day and was remanded in custody.

A trial has been set for April 2 2024 at the Old Bailey.

A 20-year-old man arrested on February 18 on suspicion of murder has been bailed to a date in May.
