Euston church shooting: Man charged over drive by attack at Camden funeral

A 19-year-old man has been charged, and two other men arrested, over a drive-by shooting during a funeral outside a church in central London.

Four women and two girls were injured in the incident at St Aloysius Church in Camden in January.

Alrico Nelson Martin, from Kilburn, has been charged with possession of a shotgun with intent to endanger life and six counts of conspiracy to wound with intent.

A further two men, aged 22 and 23, have been arrested for conspiracy to murder and remain in custody.

Police were called on Saturday afternoon January 14 to reports of a shooting in Phoenix Road.

Four women aged 48, 54, 41, 21 and two girls, aged 11 and seven, were shot in the incident and were taken to hospital.

The 48-year-old woman remains in hospital undergoing treatment.

The memorial service was a requiem Mass for Sara Sanchez, 20, and her mother, Fresia Calderon, 50, who died in November.

Ms Sanchez suffered from leukaemia for three years before succumbing to the disease after her mother died suddenly from a rare blood clot on arrival at Heathrow from Colombia.

The Met said a 22-year-old man was arrested after a car was stopped in Barnet, north London, on January 15.

He has been released on bail pending further inquiries, the force said.

Martin is remanded in custody to appear at Willesden Magistrates Court today (March 15).
