Boy, 13, arrested over rape of 35-year-old woman in Plumstead park

A 13-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of rape after a 35-year-old woman was found sexually assaulted in the bushes of a Greenwich park.

A passer-by, walking his dog, disturbed the late-night assault, which allegedly took place by two males at Winn’s Common in Plumstead on Tuesday evening.

The walker managed to detain one of the suspects with the help of his dog, who bit the teen’s finger, but the second male fled from the scene.

The suspect was arrested on suspicion of rape and was taken to hospital to treat his injuries before being taken into custody.

A Met Police spokesperson said: “Police were called shortly before 11pm on Tuesday, December 21, to Lakedale Road, Plumstead, to reports of a rape of a woman by two males.

“Officers attended. It was reported that a 35-year-old woman was raped by two males in bushes near to Lakedale Road.

“A member of the public, who was walking his dog, disturbed the suspects and assisted in detaining one of them at the scene.

“The detained male, aged 13, was arrested on suspicion of rape and initially taken to hospital to be treated for an injury to his finger caused by a dog bite, before being taken into custody.”

The Met Police have said that enquiries into what happened are ongoing.
