The 2024 UEFA European Championship is almost upon us which will see 24 of the best teams from across the continent compete over the next month for the prestigious football title including Switzerland.
Thanks to London’s diverse food scene, football fans celebrating in the capital can eat a number of national dishes and snacks of the qualifying teams from German bratwursts to Italian pizzas.

After hearing about the doughnut fondue fusion, of course myself and LondonWorld video journalist, Jack Abela had to head down to Crosstown and give it a try ahead of the Euros.
Crosstown, who has become known for their doughnuts across the capital, teamed up with online cheesemonger, Cheesegeek, for their latest creation.

The fondue-nut mimics the iconic cheesy dipping dish as it features a nutty cheese custard at its centre. In particular, the creamy fromage at its core has Pecorino cheese notes which when matured is beloved for its salty flavour.
If, like me, you instantly think of a sprinkle topped ring when hearing the word doughnut, the fondue-nut is totally different and is actually more closer to a cheesy style pastry taste.
Its savoury flavour hits you as soon as you take a bite as you get a mouthful of its sourdough doughnut base which features sweet-tart sun dried tomatoes mixed in.
While it takes a few bites to get to the fondue-like centre, once you get there the strong cheesy taste soon takes over and stays as you finish the doughnut off.

Having said that, if you are partial to a stronger cheese taste you may enjoy Crosstown’s new savoury doughnut flavour.
Cheese lovers rooting for Switzerland as this year’s champions and want to enjoy the fondue-nut before heading to the pub will be able to buy one at Crosstown’s bakeries across the city or order them online on their website.
