Doting uncle celebrates fourth anniversary of music business

Inspired by the arrival of his baby niece Juliet in 2020, Josh set about composing a collection of personalised songs written just for her. The collection soon became a soundtrack to his niece’s life, leading to the launch of ‘My First Music’.

Josh commented: “What began as just a gift to my niece, quickly captured the hearts and ears of family friends and before long, other children had their own bespoke songs to sing at bath times, bedtimes, car rides, and celebrations. The response was overwhelming - it immediately became a family favourite, and a welcome change from screen time and nursery rhymes!”.

Josh has always had a passion for music and is a Grammy Nominated and LA Guild of Music theatre creative and performer. He has received an OFFIE award for Innovation in Children’s Theatre, won The Royal Shakespeare Company's inaugural National Songwriter Competition, and is shortlisted for the 2024 BBC Audio Awards. He studied Music at University (BA Music First Class Hons), specialising in Composition and Music Therapy, and is an Associate Artist with the National Youth Theatre.

He currently has four productions playing at Vienna's National Theatre, The Burgtheater. But it was the birth of his niece that really showed him first hand the power that music has on a child’s development, stimulating cognitive growth through each childhood developmental stage; fostering musical curiosity, nurturing emotional well-being, and inspiring creative play.

Matt and Lisa Rogers, who had an album created for their daughter Izzy commented: “It’s honestly the gift that keeps giving, what My First Music create is so special, Izzy loves all of her songs and we do too, the album will be cherished for years to come”.

Now heading towards its fifth year in business, Josh has built a collaborative team of leading childhood development experts to create award-winning music that includes a personal dedication along with references to a child’s favourite place, people and toys.

Commenting on the future of the business, Josh commented: “I never imagined the music I created for my newborn niece would become a successful business reaching so many other families. I hope that we can continue to build on what we’ve created, and our music will be cherished by lots of families for many years to come”.
