The bridge, which is the oldest surviving Thames crossing in Greater London, is getting the floral makeover as part of ‘Be in Bloom’ a new initiative by the town’s Business Improvement District.
To mark the occasion the Royal Jubilant, a traditional barge built by Richmond Bridge Boathouses, will be taking passengers under the bridge for a close-up view of the flowers.

The Jubilant was commissioned by The Thames Traditional Rowing Association to celebrate the Queen’s Golden Jubilee in 2002 and is a replica of an eighteenth-century barge on display in Somerset House in central London.
“Our goal with ‘Be in Bloom’ is to celebrate Richmond’s amazing heritage and natural beauty in a fun and engaging way,” said Anna Bromly, Be Richmond Marketing Manager.
“’Be in Bloom’ not only beautifies our historic bridge but also promotes a sense of community pride and enhances the overall visitor experience.
