Hannah Platt is set to bring her critically acclaimed debut show 'Defence Mechanism' to London's Soho Theatre this March, following a triumphant run at the Edinburgh Fringe that earned her multiple award nominations.

The Merseyside-born comedian, hailed by The Guardian for humour "sharp enough to draw blood," will perform her unflinching and deeply personal show for three nights from 20th-22nd March at 8:45pm. The production, explores Platt's experiences with body dysmorphia, family dynamics, and the often-uncomfortable journey toward vulnerability.

'Defence Mechanism' has already garnered impressive recognition, receiving nominations for NextUp's Biggest Award in Comedy 2024, Comedian's Choice Best Debut 2024, and the coveted ISH Edinburgh Comedy Awards Best Newcomer 2024. The show masterfully weaves together themes of mental health, working-class identity, and the commercialisation of wellness, all filtered through Platt's distinctive northern lens.

The BBC New Comedy Awards finalist crafts a narrative that begins with her recent body dysmorphia diagnosis and expands into a wider examination of how we all develop defensive barriers against life's challenges. With characteristic wit, she tackles everything from ineffective therapy techniques to encounters with teenagers on trains, while questioning whether positive affirmations really stand a chance against real-world experiences.

The show promises to be a darkly comic yet relatable exploration of mental health, delivered by one of British comedy's most compelling new voices. Tickets for 'Defence Mechanism' at Soho Theatre are available now for what promises to be one of the spring's most talked-about comedy events.
