The four players likely to leave Tottenham as Ange Postecoglou eyes summer rebuild after Chelsea defeat

Tottenham’s season is in danger of falling apart after three straight defeats in the league.

Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou admitted his team lacked the desire and temperament in their 2-0 defeat to Chelsea on Thursday night. Spurs have now suffered three straight defeats and will need a miracle to qualify for Champions League football next season.

This was the same situation they found themselves in last time out, in with a chance to qualify for the Champions League before it all fell apart after defeat to Southampton when then manager Antonio Conte threw his toys out of the pram.

Injuries haven't helped and the squad depth was crucially exposed when Destiny Udogie and Ben Davies dropped out through injury. Some of the players brought last summer have looked good so they will look to build on that under the Australian manager.

But to do it effectively they’ll have to move players on. So with that in mind, here are the players who are likely to leave in the summer:

Pierre-Emile Højbjerg

The Danish admitted earlier in the season that he was not happy with his game time having fallen behind the likes of Yves Bissouma and Pape Sarr. He said in the summer: “Of course, I'm not happy with what's going on at the club.”

Juventus and Atletico Madrid were interested in him but it remains to be seen if they will return for him in the summer.

Sergio Reguilon

The Spain defender is out on loan at Brentford but it's clear he was not in the plans of Postecoglou with Destiny Udogie the preferred so this will be an interesting summer. He recently told the Times he did not know what had happened between the manager and himself.

“During pre-season, I was very happy and he [Postecoglou] was happy with me, also the staff. I was playing like a normal player, all the games. The week before, I went to see him I was in his plans and suddenly I was not.”

Timo Werner

The German might have played his last game for the club after being forced off through injury against Arsenal. He’s managed two goals in 13 appearances but depending on who is available in the market and the need to manage the budget, the club might decide against making his loan move permanent.

Emerson Royal

The Brazilian is a team player, one that managers love. He doesn't complain and can play as a left-back or at times as a centre-back. He would love to stay but if a team is willing to give Tottenham around £25million, you suspect they will take it.

He's been a great servant but given the way Postecoglou wants to play, he might not be the man to take them to the next level.
