Latest news on the injury front regarding Fulham ahead of the weekend

Fulham are back in action this weekend at home to Nottingham Forest. The Cottagers beat Sunderland 3-2 in the FA Cup last night at the Stadium of Light.

Marco Silva used the game to shake up his side a bit and give some fringe players the chance to show what they can do. Some key first-team players did get a run out too such as Joao Palhinha, Aleksandar Mitrovic and Andreas Pereira.

Tom Cairney stood out in the middle of the park but picked up a knock near the end of the game and had to go off. Fellow midfielder Harrison Reed also suffered a twisted knee.

Silva provided an injury update to the club website afterwards and said: “They are assessing him (Cairney), at the beginning it seemed a little bit more serious, now we are more confident it probably won’t be, but later tonight, tomorrow, in two days’ time we are going to see.

“It’s not just him, Harrison Reed as well had some problems, he twisted his knee a little bit, so let’s see in the next few days. Time is really short for the next game, but we will see.”

Fulham will be hoping they are both alright and that they can play on Saturday. Reed has formed a great partnership in midfield with Palhinha, whilst Cairney has proved to be a great option off the bench.

January signings Sasa Lukic and Cedric Soares weren’t able to play against the Black Cats as they weren’t registered for the original tie. However, they are both available again for the Nottingham Forest clash.
