Marc Guehi fitness boost as Crystal Palace hit the jackpot ahead of crucial Manchester United game

The Crystal Palace defender has missed the last 89 days through injury but could return this weekend.

Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi has returned to team training and is pushing to play a part against Manchester United this weekend according to the Dailymail.

The 23-year-old had surgery in February and has been forced to watch on as Palace navigate life under new manager Oliver Glasner. He has now been cleared to return to the squad and will get a run out at the weekend if everything goes according to plan.

The knee injury was only the second the England international has broken down since he joined the club three seasons ago from Chelsea in a deal worth around £18million. His return is also a timely boost for England manager Gareth Southgate who will be putting the finishing touches to his Euro squad.

Since arriving in south London, Guehi has gone on to play 108 times, scoring five goals and captaining the team on several occasions.

Growing interest from Arsenal and Manchester United

There is genuine interest in the defender from Manchester United who are looking to strengthen their squad in the summer. Lisandro Martínez and Victor Lindelöf have struggled with injuries this season and United have felt the impact of their absence.

LondonWorld sources say Palace will struggle to keep Guehi in the summer as he has just two years left on his current deal and the club would not want a repeat of the Wilfried Zaha situation where he ran down his contract and left for Turkey

Arsenal are also reportedly keeping tabs on the development in south London with Mikel Arteta said to be a huge admirer of Guehi’s playing style and confidence on the ball.

Palace are unbeaten in the last four games, winning three of them including a victory at Anfield and the thrashing of West Ham. They take on Manchester United who are desperate for a win after only managing a draw against relegation-threatened Burnley.
