Mauricio Pochettino has now confirmed £38.5m Chelsea star will miss Tottenham game in latest team news

Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino has been providing team news ahead of their game against Spurs.

Chelsea will now have 12 players missing for their game against Tottenham with defender Axel Disasi who was signed from Monaco for £38.5million joining Thiago Silva as the two who have been added to the injury list. 

Before joining Chelsea Disasi had only suffered two injuries in his entire career, but he’s had two in the last two weeks in west London. Chelsea boss Pochettino confirmed the latest setback at the club’s training ground today: "We cannot recover any players in the last weeks. We only add two players, Thiago Silva and Axel Disasi. They will not be available."

The duo add to Reece James, Levi Colwill and Carney Chukwuemeka who make a long list of players currently out injured. Romeo Lavia has played less than 40 minutes all season while Wesley Fofana missed pre-season and the entire campaign due to a knee problem. 

Robert Sanchez, who started the season as the first-choice goalkeeper has been in and out of the squad due to injury while Lesley Ugochukwu has played 10 times but hasn't kicked a ball this year.

Chelsea looking for a boost after recent setback 

Both Chelsea and Spurs are looking for a win that will breathe life into their campaign after recent setbacks. 

The Blues are without a win in their last two games while the Lilywhites have lost their last two and are in danger of ending a season which started brightly on a low.

Chelsea can still secure some form of European football but it remains to be seen if they can put together a run of victories that will see them meet their target of securing either the Europa League or the Conference League.
